About

Thea Batty is a Welsh artist, curator, and fashion repair specialist based in North Dorset. Her work is driven by a profoundly empathic approach to education as a social practice.

As a descendant of over five generations of garment factory workers, Thea is committed to challenging unethical labor practices in the fashion and textile industry. She advocates for climate justice through the art of repair and gentle forms of protest.

Her mission is to raise awareness by facilitating creative workshops providing hand-on learning experiences that remove the fear of mending. In addition, she offers a bespoke clothing repair service, creating personalised, skilful repairs that breathe new life into cherished garments, fostering a sustainable, mindful approach to fashion.

Curatorial Practices

As a freelance curator, Thea curates exhibitions that explore sustainable and ethical practices in everyday life. Her curatorial work highlights the impact of our choices, from the clothing we wear to the general goods we produce, encouraging thoughtful, responsible consumption. Through these exhibitions, she invites audiences to consider their role in a sustainable future, blending creativity with purpose to inspire change.
